Hi there.

I’m Samantha Johnston, designer and art director local to Waterloo, Ontario. I play a critical role in leading creative direction for marketing and communications teams. From concept to execution, I work to create and integrate visual brands seamlessly across all channels to deliver a consistent and engaging brand experience that drives results through visually compelling and effective designs.

I believe strongly in creating design that elevates content and messaging to provide a seamless and engaging experience for the audience, so let’s chat.

How I Work:

  • Review Objectives
    Understand Scope
    Gather Requirements

I am a passionate designer who thrives on communicating ideas and content through effective design.

I value open communication and feedback throughout the project and ensure all requirements and expectations are gathered to ensure alignment prior to getting started.

  • Timelines
    Deliverables
    Responsibilities
    Team Members
    Phases

I am confident in project managing and meeting deadlines, reviewing deliverables and budgets, and delegating across a team.

  • Involve the client or cross-departmental teams, including all stakeholders not initially part of the kick-off.

Effective design includes all stakeholders. I continuously strive to provide updates and ensure all relevant contributors are involved to get a full understanding of the market, audience, goals, and strategic initiatives associated with the desired work.

  • Thumbnails
    Concepts
    Wireframes
    Mock Ups
    Design

This is where I begin to put the pencil to the paper beginning with concepts, layouts and wireframes.

  • Involve Key Stakeholders
    Present
    Review and Revise

Stages 4 and 5 are cyclical in the design and review process, including revisions, open communication, and feedback.

  • Bring it to life and launch the finished work.

Although the work is done and the project is launched, I thrive on continuously learning and improving my designs and skills.

I review and gauge design performance through metrics, research, industry trends, and requirements to improve and connect with audiences.
